The intrinsic muscles enable you to alter your tongue’s form and direct the tip in any direction without being connected to any bones. The extrinsic muscles are attached to the skeleton. They allow for a broader range of tongue movement, including changing position from left to right or up and down. When working in tandem, these muscles provide your tongue with the mobility to perform all its essential tasks.
